Obituary for Florence Arnett McGill

Florence Arnett McGill
Florence Arnett McGill was born on January 8, 1935 to George and Ida Mae McGill in St. Louis, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, William (Amos), George (T), and Oscar.
Arnett attended the St. Louis Public Schools and was a graduate of Vashon High School. She then went to Hickey Business School. She started working in private practice with the late Morris M. Hatchet. When he moved from private practice to the newly formed Legal Aid Society, (now Legal Services of Eastern Missouri) she followed and continued to work there for 46 years; being one of the longest working employees there. She will be greatly missed by staff and friends.
Arnett accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior in 1953 at Samuel Temple A.M.E. Church under the Reverend Milford Vaughn, where she was also a member of the church choir.
Arnett was a great provider who always put her family first. She was a giving, caring, strong, independent woman, who was willing to help and do what she could for anyone.
The Lord called Arnett home from this life on April 4, 2013 at 8:00 p.m. She leaves to mourn her passing: one sister, Lillian L. Allen (Minneapolis, MN); one son, Virgil; two daughters, Joyce and Arnette; her adopted son (nephew), Bruce; grandchildren, Michael (San Francisco, CA), Sharonda (Trell) “(Arlington, TX), Pierre (Crystal) (Austin, TX), Danielle, Brittany, Aeriel, Schuylar, Antoinette, India, Chyna and Cortney; four great-grandchildren, Jaden, Pierre, Jr., Jamie, and Nweka; and a host of other family and friends.
