Obituary for Carlee Hamilton

Carlee  Hamilton
Carlee Hamilton, nee Pearson, beloved wife of Lawrence Hamilton, passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2013. She was the second child born to the union of Arbelia and Earlie Pearson in McLemoresville, Tennessee on April 30, 1920.
Carlee moved to St. Louis with her family at a very early age. She completed elementary school in the St. Louis Public School System and graduated valedictorian in the 1939 class of Vashon High School.
During World War II, Carlee was employed as a riveter for the Curtis-Wright Aircraft Company. Subsequent to the war, Carlee entered the Federal Civil Service and was employed by the Military Records Center in Overland, MO where she became supervisor of the mailroom. While employed at the Records Center, Carlee completed several evening courses at St. Louis University.
It was during this period that she met her husband-to-be, Lawrence Hamilton. They were married on July 26, 1964. No children were born to this union.
Carlee was a member of several civil rights organizations and participated in many demonstrations and activities of that era including the Jefferson Bank protests.
Carlee was an avid outdoor person who enjoyed working in her flower garden, going to Forest Park, and exercising. She had a great passion for playing bingo and going to casino boats. Carlee was a gregarious, outgoing and generous person.
Carlee is preceded in death by her mother and father, Arbeila and Earlie Pearson, and her brother Azee Pearson. She is survived by her husband Lawrence, sisters-in-law, Carrie Pearson of Chicago, Alice Sayles, Marolyn Douglass of St. Louis, MO, brothers-in-law, Myron Hamilton and David Douglass of St. Louis, devoted friends Grace Brown and Alberniece Fagan and many nieces and friends. Carlee will be missed by all who knew her!
