Obituary for Roger L. Bomar Sr.

Roger L.  Bomar Sr.
Roger L. Bomar, also known as “Jake”, was born June 19, 1948 to Oanna “Jon” Bomar and was raised in Camden, Tennessee. Roger’s brothers Ollie “B”, James Edward, and Otha Ray along with his sister Jesse Faye preceded him in death.
Roger was educated in Benton County school system in Camden, Tennessee.
He attended Williams Grove Baptist Church in Camden and confessed his hope in Jesus Christ at an early age.
Roger was drafted into the U.S. Marine Corps in February 1967 to March 1970 where he served in Vietnam.
He was united in holy matrimony to Cora (Tharpe) Bomar in 1971 and to this union Derek Bomar, Kimberly Bomar, Rhonda (David) Hemphill, Roger Bomar, Jr. and Tanya (Michael) Wilson were born.
He later was united with and shared his life with Evelyn Bomar until his death did they part.
Roger later became a truck driver for Baron Express until his retirement in June 2010.
He enjoyed fishing, gambling, traveling, hunting and spending time with his family and friends…and he had a passion for his van. Roger also loved making people laugh and never met a stranger.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Evelyn Bomar, his children, Derek Bomar, Kimberly Bomar, Rhonda (David) Hemphill, Roger Bomar, Jr. and Tanya (Michael) Wilson; his step-daughter, Demeatrice Bailey; his brother, Robert (Beauty) Tharpe; his sisters, Delia Tharpe, Annie Porter and Betty Bomar; fifteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
